Schwab and American Express Launch Boosted Welcome Offers — But Only Until July 8

Charles Schwab and American Express have rolled out significantly enhanced welcome offers on two of their co-branded credit cards. Here's what investors and travelers should know before the deadline arrives.

The Schwab Investor Card® from American Express and The Platinum Card® from American Express Exclusively for Charles Schwab are currently featuring elevated limited-time welcome offers through July 8, 2026.

Charles Schwab and American Express are now offering elevated limited-time welcome bonuses on both of their co-branded credit cards. Whether you're looking for simple investing-focused cash back or a premium travel card packed with luxury perks, the new offers are notably stronger than before — but they’re only available through July 8, 2026.

The Two Offers at a Glance

Schwab Investor Card® from American Express — $300 Statement Credit

The no-annual-fee Schwab Investor Card is currently offering a $300 statement credit to new cardholders — up from the previous $200 offer. To earn it, you'll need to spend $1,000 in purchases within your first 3 months of card membership.

That’s a relatively approachable spending requirement that many households could meet through regular expenses like groceries, gas, utilities, or insurance payments.

Beyond the welcome bonus, the card earns 1.5% cash back on eligible purchases, automatically deposited into your linked Schwab brokerage account. For investors who prefer simplicity, it’s a straightforward way to turn everyday spending into incremental portfolio growth.

The card also includes a 0% introductory APR on purchases for the first 6 months, followed by a variable APR of 19.49%–28.49%, depending on creditworthiness.

The Platinum Card® from American Express Exclusively for Charles Schwab — 150,000 Membership Rewards® Points

For Schwab clients seeking premium travel benefits, the Schwab Platinum Card is currently offering 150,000 Membership Rewards® points after spending $12,000 within the first 6 months. That’s a substantial jump from the previous 80,000-point offer.

The card carries an annual fee of $895, placing it firmly in ultra-premium territory. To justify that cost, the card offers a long list of travel benefits, statement credits, and lifestyle perks — although maximizing full value typically requires actively using several partner services and enrollment-based benefits.

Current benefits include:

  • Up to $600 in hotel credits annually through Fine Hotels + Resorts® and The Hotel Collection via Amex Travel

  • $200 Airline Fee Credit per calendar year

  • $400 Resy Credit for eligible dining purchases (up to $100 per quarter)

  • $300 Digital Entertainment Credit (up to $25 monthly at participating providers)

  • $300 lululemon Credit annually (up to $75 quarterly)

  • $200 Uber Cash annually ($15 monthly plus an extra $20 in December)

  • $120 Uber One Credit

  • $209 CLEAR+ Credit

  • Walmart+ membership credit

  • Up to $100 Saks Fifth Avenue Credit annually ($50 semi-annually; enrollment required)

  • Access to 1,550+ airport lounges worldwide, including Centurion Lounges, Priority Pass Select lounges, and up to 10 complimentary Delta Sky Club visits annually

The card also earns:

  • 5X Membership Rewards® points on flights booked directly with airlines or through Amex Travel (up to $500,000 annually)

  • 5X points on prepaid hotels booked through Amex Travel

One of the Schwab Platinum Card’s most distinctive features is its ability to redeem Membership Rewards points directly into eligible Schwab brokerage accounts at approximately 1.1 cents per point. At that rate, the current 150,000-point bonus could translate to roughly $1,650 deposited into an investment account.

The Schwab version of the Platinum Card also includes the Annual Schwab Appreciation Bonus, which provides statement credits based on qualifying Schwab holdings:

  • $100 credit with qualifying balances of $250,000–$999,999

  • $200 credit with balances of $1 million–$9,999,999

  • $1,000 credit with balances of $10 million or more

For high-net-worth clients already heavily invested within the Schwab ecosystem, those credits can significantly offset the annual fee.

Important Eligibility Details

Both cards are exclusive to Schwab clients. Applicants must maintain an eligible Schwab account, including:

  • Schwab One® Brokerage Accounts

  • Schwab General Brokerage Accounts

  • Schwab Traditional IRAs

  • Schwab Roth IRAs

  • Schwab Rollover IRAs

If you don’t already have one, Schwab allows customers to open eligible brokerage accounts online.

The cards themselves are issued by American Express National Bank, not Charles Schwab, and Schwab is not involved in the credit approval process.

Prospective applicants should also pay close attention to American Express welcome-offer eligibility rules. In recent years, Amex has expanded its “family language” restrictions, meaning some consumers who currently have — or previously had — other American Express Platinum products may not qualify for the Schwab Platinum welcome bonus.

In some cases, American Express may display a pop-up warning during the application process informing applicants that they are ineligible for the bonus before they submit their application.

The Bottom Line

These are meaningful increases, not minor tweaks. The Schwab Investor Card’s bonus has climbed from $200 to $300, while the Schwab Platinum offer has nearly doubled from 80,000 to 150,000 Membership Rewards points.

For investors already using Schwab as their primary brokerage platform, the cards create an unusually tight connection between spending, rewards, and long-term investing — whether that means automatically reinvesting cash back or converting Membership Rewards points into brokerage deposits.

The elevated offers are scheduled to expire on July 8, 2026, giving interested applicants a relatively short window to decide.
